Swim lap tracking

Lap tracking very inconsistent, and rarely correct!  I swim in a 25yd pool and the Sense consistently off by a length +/- (i.e. 25yd) at the end of a 2000yd swim.  How does this happen!!!? I contacted fitbit via chat, and it was suggested I restart the Sense.  Thought that worked, UNTIL the 2nd swim! No Bueno!

Hi, @dmsam, welcome, I swam with my "Sense" daily for 18 months until recently. You will note that when you reach an end and quickly flick your wrist to see the length count it is always 1 length short as the last length has not been sensed as completed. If you pause for a second and flick your wrist again the count will now be +1 on your previous observation and is correct. I check my mental count every 10th turn at the shallow end where I start and get 19 lengths then 39 lengths etc.

I hope this helps.

Cheers

thx for your input. do you agree that the number of lengths completed should be multiples of 2 when completing a lap (up & back)? My Ionic rarely miscalculated 'lengths', my Sense never gets it correct.  I too, do mental counting, check yards at completion of each set of 10 laps. The watch consistently is off by 1 length!  I always end up with an odd length count at the end of a nonstop 2000 yd (80 length) swim.  very frustrating.  Fitbit's solution was to perform a watch reset.... no bueno!

Hi @dmsam, at the complete end of my swim, allowing a second or two for the device to detect the end of the last length I get the correct number of lengths, it's all tied up in the timing.

Cheers
