@Henny2022 Don't think of the button as touch sensitive, think of it as "squeeze" sensitive. Squeeze or push it as if there's a physical button. I have no issues with it at all as I use the double press for shortcuts and long for Google Assistant all the time.

Hi @Henny2022 - in addition to what @eezeepee has provided, have you checked your Quick Settings recently?
When the watch is on, swipe the watch face right. Make sure the wrist wake is enabled (watch icon) and all the others are disabled, except brightness.
That way when you raise your wrist to look at the watch the display will come on and you can swipe.
You can still use the button to go back or do a swipe to cancel (back one level).
