Tap-to-wake function doesn't work

Hi!

I'm owning a Fitbit Sense 1 since two weeks and have a big problem with the tap-to-wake function. As several other people already mentioned, a screen activation is difficult by tapping twice on the Sense Screen. I have to tap like 5-6 times. This is very frustrating as a watch should show me the time whenever I want it to show me. It is not in the sleep mode nor in the don't-disturb-mode. I have tried multiple soft resets and one hard reset to initial settings.

After I contacted the support team, I had to choose if I want another Fitbit Sense or a 50% discount on another Fitbit model (but pay for the not fully working Fitbit Sense, too!). I chose to get another Sense... which has the same problem now!

Does anybody don't have problems with that tap-to-wake function on the Fitbit Sense 1? I wonder if that is a common problem which would be super bad because this watch is really expensive and that function is like a basic feature that has to work always! The use of the watch can be so frustrating without being able to activate the screen by tapping twice. It would be a shame if Fibit would still sell these products with the knowledge about these faults!

Hi @ben.fro - there are a couple of alternatives to tapping the screen,

  • one is to push the button,
  • the other is to enable Quick View in the Fitbit App [click profile photo, Device photo] and sync
  • or on the watch swipe the face to the right to get to Quick Settings and enable the watch icon there and at the same time you'll be forced to disable sleep.

If you really want to tap the watch to wake it, rather than just raising your wrist, some people have had success with tapping the frame, from the side or any angle that it reacts to.

Tapping with a finger nail may be less reactive than the fleshy part of the finger on some watches.
