I don't know how to say this, other than it was like watching the heart monitor blip and beep showing the patient was coming back to life.
My Sense was stuck in reboot loop....dead. I got a new charger, but that didn't do the trick.
I waited to see if anything would happen on it's own, but nope.
Then last night I was messing with it, and started to hold both the side button and what I discovered to be a "button" that I could push in the back center of the watch. I held the two buttons in and got a red light flash on the back. I did it again, and got another red light flash. I did it a third time and got a "beep" from my watch, something that I never heard before.
Low and behold the watch restarted and a big red X showed up on the watch, with the message "failed to clear data, try again."
I was finally able to sync my watch to my phone and then start the process of adding my Sense to my phone. It went through an entire update and all seems to be well.
I don't know if this will work for you and I have described my steps to the best of my recollection.
Good luck!

Hi @eopetterson checking the Sense user manual, I don't see any mention of a button other than the one for restarting. The holes are mentioned with a caution not to poke them with a paperclip as it could harm the device. To be sure, I've asked a Moderator to stop by to assist. At least whatever happened, you're back to counting the steps.

@Odyssey13 Thank you for making us aware of this thread and for your help.
@eopetterson , A warm welcome to the Community! Thank you for your message and solution proposal.
As our friend Odyssey13 mentioned, there is no button on the back of the Sense. On the back of the watch you 'll see the contacts to charge, the different sensors and the LEDs.
In the mittle of the sensors (and the whole watch) you see a small square, this is the green LED for the measurements related to the heart rate.
Please under ANY circumstances, do not put anything on the holes at the sides of your watch, this could cause that the mic, altimeter and other sensible parts get damaged.
We appreciate your willingness to help others, but you have to be careful, as these steps could damage the watches from other users, and void their warranty.

Just to clarify, I DID NOT stick anything in the sensors on the back of the
watch. When I pressed the back of the watch I got haptic feedback so I
just went with it! I realize there is not an actual button on the back,
but I pressed it and nonetheless it worked.
Everyone, use this info for however you need, but like others have said, don't put anything in the holes or the sensor spots, as I did NOT do this either!

@eopetterson , Thank you for reply.
I appreciate that you clarified that you didn't stick anything on the holes of the device. I just wanted to make sure about that, not implying that you did it, but to prevent others to do so if they misunderstood your description or thought about doing it.
As mentioned before, we appreciate your willingness to help others in the Fitbit Family.

Hurray! Your method just worked for me as well. It's pushing the hold button quite a many hundreds of times that made my watch do the trick with the big red cross and then my phone asked if I wanted to pair the Sense automatically.
I had of course first unpaired the device before pushing the button like a madman.
Thanks for your genius advice!
