Unable to set up Sense with PC or Android phone

So a few years back I go on a fitbit kick and lost a bunch of weight. A few months in, I bought one for my mom who needed to stay active and though being a slave to the watch like me would help her achieve her goals.

Back to me a few months after my fitbit went out and I was so unhappy with the app and the lack of durability I went to get a higher end smart watch with the same features. Still works.

Now unbeknownst to me, at the same time my mom was having different issues with her watch - which she has kept using. It still tracks she just cant see anything. She just recently told me when I was over. So I though its mother day - lets get her an upgrade. I though about the same highend watch I have, but learned its a pain if you dont also use a cell phone. Something she doesnt because she never leaves home and when she does its with my dad who has his. (and he has the same watch as I do)

So I went back to the Fitbit well. Got her the Sense. Said to myself, this is all she needs and it wont be a hastle.  So I take it over, she instantly opens the box, follows the instructions. we wait for full charge.

Once it hits 100 she takes me back to the PC and I add new device. Get a little ways in and i get this black bar for pairing device. Which is supposed to be a window giving me an option. NOPE I only get the top bar part of the window. Try to resize window - it wont. It gives me the cursor and all - it just doesnt resize. Keep in mind, my folks are both afraid of new technology and I am the new gadget guy trying to make thier lives easier. But she sees the black bar and starts troubleshooting by replaying the last 3 days of our lives. Re-reading the small instruction card in the box, flipping it over a couple times as if magical other instructions would appear. What if my watch is too powerful for my computer? What if we need to keep it at 100% so it works? [takes off the watch, charges it to 100, puts the watch back on, same problem] At the same time, the watch only shows the initial message about installing the fitbit app in a handful of languages. Reboots dont work. Reboots on the charger dont work. un and then re installing the app does not work Same with deleting and adding the watch to the app again. I come home with it to try it on my computer and on my phone - no difference. The app sees the watch, tracks steps but does not have all the features in the app and the watch just keeps telling me to install the app. I find no threads here with the issue. Nothing on Youtube.  I mean the watch has ONE button. How is this so complicated?

Hi @Thr3e2wenty8  the Sense can only be set up on a compatible mobile device. You can use your dad's phone and get your mom set up. Log your dad out and get his Fitbit (and yours) out of range while setting your mom up. The app has more features available than the computer's dashboard.

"REQUIREMENTS

  • To set up Fitbit Aria Air, Fitbit Charge 4, Fitbit Sense, Fitbit Versa 2, or Fitbit Versa 3, you must use a compatible iPhone, iPad, or Android phone. You can’t set up these devices on a Windows 10 device."
