After buying a sense six month ago, i wonder What the announcement at google/io today means for existing fitbit Devices like my sense. Do we get an Update to wear OS or is my new sense out of date after only six month? That would be a Big bummer!

@TobiU This article in 9to5Google seems to say that Wear OS will be for future products, not current ones.

@TobiUit looks like an attempt to reviving WearOS (it hasn't been updated for a long time). At this point, it's hard to tell what it means for Fitbit. Speaking from my experience, devices like Sense are not powerful enough to use WearOS. For that, you'd need devices with hardware closer to Samsung watches or the current WearOS (sort of) king - Suunto 7. These are a lot more powerful devices. I don't think Fitbit will be doing anything different and will follow (at least for now) its own path. Google likes to branch and explore possibilities and Fitbit devices may never be shipped with WearOS.
Edit:
Well, this explains a lot:

As I said, Fitbit's hardware isn't strong enough to support WearOS.

Interesting - thank you.
Were Fitbit to move to another OS platform [for new watches] it would kill the whole third party Gallery watch face compatibility and create a huge support issue having to support two watch OS platforms, from one mobile Fitbit App, not to mention Customer support having to deal with two platforms.
