Weather won't synch on sense even though mobile app synchs

I have a fitbit sense. oddly enough, it had the weather set for Sun Valley, Idaho, instead of Sun Valley, California.

 

I went into the profile and added two cities and synched same.

my sense won't seem to synch though. It continues to say "synch the fitbit mobile app to update"

I've had exactly the same problem and after multiple factory resets of phone and FitBit Sense and the plan to buy a Garmin I came across something. 

 

If the "current location" is the same as one of the selected "cities" the FitBit designed Weather widget on the watch says "sync with FitBit app". 

 

Really annoying - but once I made sure the current location was different to any programmed locations it started synching. 

 

I also noticed before I realised this bug that when I went away from my home the weather would start synching - and its because the app can't handle being in the same place twice.
