Thanks for inputs, issue was router security settings. I've had to set up a separate profile for my Sense in which all security is turned off. I get no connection even when the only security switched on is a malicious software filter!!! Seriously needs some attention from Fitbit.

Check if you’re using 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz for Wi-Fi Watch can only use the 2.4 GHz

What are you trying to use WiFi with when you get this message?

This is the reason most VPNs have some way to open ports or allow apps.

Not every app users the few common ports.

Some security simply say we are not going to allow anything we are not sure of.

The author of your security could easily put in an exemption for fitbit. Or the user can add an exemption.

This doesn't mean your opening a security risk.

Unfortunately, if you have no way to override the security settings on your wifi, then you cannot connect the device to WiFi before running through the agonizingly long setup via bluetooth. I can only add a device to my router by manually inputting the MAC address, and you can only get to the MAC address -after- setup has been completed, and I cannot turn that security requirement off (even temporarily). It can be bypassed if I log directly in with the device via a web browser, but obviously that's not an option either.

So then turn security off, attach the tracker, read the MAC.
