Why is it so problematic to get "Sense Controls" to sync with Bluetooth on an iPhone? I never can get it to although my iPhone XS says it's connected, my Sense never will recognize it as such.

Not sure what is meant by sync, nothing syncs with these controls.
My phone never shows as connected, it shows as a paired trusted device.
Does the Sense say that the controls are connected? Mine only shows paired, and only connects when needed.
Being a trusted device, they should connect when requested.
What is the symptoms of things not working?
Does the Sense notify you of an incoming call?
Do the controls popup?
Then what happens?

When I go to Bluetooth settings on my iPhone XS, it shows Sense Controls (not connected), it searches, but never recognizes my Sense. The phone always just says "not connected.

If you go to https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/2460.htm and follow the instructions for "How do I set up on-wrist calls on my Fitbit device?" then the Sense Controls will sync. I'm not sure what else the Sense Controls are for besides taking phone calls, but at least you can get it to sync.

After searching more I think Sense Controls are also used to control music on the iPhone from your Sense.

When I go to the Bluetooth controls, the Sense Controls is listed as being atrusted paired device. Not as a connected device.
When a phone call comes in.
A notification is sent.
The phone then connects the Sense controls.
I then can answer through the sense.
It is only for this very short period that the sense controls are connected.
Get out of you Bluetooth screen.
What happens when you receive a call?

Exactly the same for me here in Australia. Tried everything including reset. It connects, then drops the connection in a few seconds. On that watch it says it’s still connected but on my iPhone it is not connected.
Frustrating.

Interesting @SurfaceRocket neither my watch or phone say that Sense Controls are connected. They both show as Sense controls being paired.
It is only dieting a call that the phone will show the controls as connected.

It's exactly as it's supposed to be. It connects automatically during a call.

That’s the same with mine. It looks like there Sense Controls are not paired on the phone but are paired on the watch. It seems to work that way as I’ve been receiving calls on the watch with this configuration.

I’m having the same issue - if the Sense connects only when I get a call why can’t I hear the person on my phone? I touch the green button to answer but it connects to my phone instead

I’m having some issues today as well.
I have the iPhone S6. The other day calls on wrist was working great. Call would come in and
I’d see the green phone, red phone etc on my watch. I’d hit the green phone and connection to the watch. Volume was great when turned up on the phone. Then today when call comes in, the watch face is like caller id. I hit the call and phone answers. At one point I had the caller id display on watch and would tap it and hear through the watch but now it’s back on the phone
I’ve done every sequence imaginable of restarting phone, watch, turn off Bluetooth then back on. Set up calls and then connect sense controls in my In iphone. Go back and select done on the setup calls on wrist process. I understand when sense controls show not connected it connects when call comes in but I’m currently frustrated like you.
I too would appreciate help. I’ve searched the forums, Fitbit help and out of ideas.

I finally got my sense controls to work and I am now able to receive calls.
I ended up doing a couple of things. Although I am unclear which one resolved on-wrist calls issue.
I went to Bluetooth and forgot device “sense controls” and “sense”. Then I exited the app, reboot my iPhone, restarted the watch. When my phone came on, I went to safari and cleared website and history, then opened the app, went to Bluetooth and connected “sense”, I then went to “on-wrist calls”in the app and followed the directions to Bluetooth on the phone to pair sense contols then returned to on-wrist controls to select some (like I have done so many times before).
the on-wrist calls showed “all set” as before, and Bluetooth showed “sense controls” not connected. I had my daughter call me. The on-wrist calls worked! I checked all the functions like the mic, volume, and asked my daughter how I sounded and she said fine. I was able to adjust volume on the phone which affected the watch volume and the volume on the phone. The volume was really loud with both turned up. I checked Bluetooth during the call and “sense controls” was connected. It “not connected” when I hung up.
That is what was previously stated. It shows not connected until a phone call comes in. Pretty happy at the moment. Knock on wood everything related to my sense is functioning properly.
Below is a pic of the incoming call.

Sense controls do not sync, they show up on Bluetooth as trusted and when needed, like with an incoming phone call, they connect.

Same problems here. I keep getting the message that sense controls are not paired. I have tried everything. I sometimes get it connected for 5 minutes, then nothing. I can’t get any notifications. So frustrating.

Did you read the post right above yours? Sense Controls only takes care of the wrist calls, nothing more. It only connects during a phone call.
Notifications not showing on your Sense has nothing to do with Sense Controls.
