I am a tortoise, and no matter what i do I seem to stay there. I have no problem, falling asleep. It’s just waking up in the night and unable to go back to sleep for several hours. I’ve tried meditation, I take trazodone, and when I wake up in the middle of the night usually around 3 o’clock, I’ll take Cannabis. Any suggestions

Hello @MelSleepy
My sleep profile animal is usually The Bear. Every now & then, I will get tortoise.
I see you're taking trazodone, so that tells me that you're under a doctor's care. How often do you take this prescription?
What type of meditation do you do? Are you doing meditation before you go to bed? Have you looked for/tried a meditation session that focuses on sleeping through the night?
What form of cannabis do you use (gummy/edible, vape, bong, etc.)? Do you use an Indica dominant strain?
Look forward to your answers and seeing if we can figure out a way for you to get better sleep.

Hi @MelSleepy
Thanks for responding.
My husband & I use cannabis for sleep, both vaping & gummies. I vape and have a gummy just before I lay down to sleep. Vaping provides the immediate relaxation since it takes time for the gummy to kick in. We use a vape pen and Indica dominant cartridge if we wake up in the middle of the night. I find it often helps me get back into relaxation and I drift back to sleep while focusing on deep breathing.
You might want to consider getting a vape pen. I don't think the batteries are very expensive and the cartridges are pretty reasonable. A 1 gram cartridge will last me at least a couple of months since I mainly use it a couple of times at night.
My husband will also listen to environmental sounds to help him sleep. He finds it very relaxing. Sometimes, he will listen to a guided meditation and often falls asleep before it's over.
All this said, I will have an occasional night when I have problems falling back to sleep because my brain just won't shut down. Thankfully, that doesn't happen too often.
