How has Fitbit's sleep tracking technology been validated?

I've just got an AppleWatch, because of the impossibility of getting my fitbit data exported.

Sleep tracking is starkly different.  Last night, FB says 110 mins REM 32 Deep, 53 Awake.

Applewatch for last night: REM 50 mins, Deep 26 mins, Awake 19 mins.

What a mess...anyway, curious what others may have found with their other devices.

@Erich777   Fitbit and Apple keep much of their data proprietary.  Features like the ECG and SpO2 are medically regulated, so data is submitted to the FDA for approval.  Sleep analysis isn't medically regulated.  So it's hard to find validation.  That being said, The Quantified Scientist does independent reviews of all makes and models of wearables.  He rates sleep analysis by comparing a wearable to a headband that measures brainwaves.  You can search his videos for more information from an independent source.
