Sleep timeline benchmark removed

According to Customer Service, the Sleep Timeline Benchmark was removed in the 4.15 update.  That was a bad move on their part.  I purchased the Fitbit and the premium subscription to monitor my sleep, although some of the other features are helpful also.  I hope they will tweak it again and put the sleep benchmark back.  I may look elsewhere for another device.  I find the new 4.15 update cumbersome and not user friendly.

so sleep time (like actual time you fall asleep and wake up) variability is a very important health outcome predictor - sleep research and health, mortality, etc. outcomes.  until about a week ago, i could track this with my fitbit.  it was important to me (i could see all the times i woke up, etc) - now i can't even retrieve the old data i was looking at since october or so - had planned to take it all to a sleep doctor.  grr.  trying to problem solve chronic insomnia.  had a great tool - (to see patterns, predictors of falling asleep, mid-night waking, wake up times etc) - now that data is completely gone!  grr.  it was such an awesome tool - i even gave up privacy and signed in with google (rather than fitbit) - much to my dismay.  NOT happy!

Since Google took over Fitbit I feel the system has become less efficient. The latest update is far less usable than the previous version. The graphics are much less visually usable, and harder to interpret, at least for me.

Hi everyone, and welcome to our new members.

Thanks for your continued reports, as well as the screenshots provided. I understand how frustrating this has been for you, and appreciate your feedback.

I'm happy to let you know that the new Fitbit app 4.16 version has started to slowly roll-out to all our members. This update brings a fix for this issue, so please make sure to install it on your mobile device once you see it available.

Keep in mind that the sleep benchmark will only appear for logs that contain sleep stages. To learn more about it, see this help article.

  • On the sleep benchmarks page, I see the times in each stage, but the Benchmarks zones do not show up as in the old app. Is there a fix for this, or is it a bug in the new app ?

@Mpaule   This is a new bug affecting some users.  Fitbit is aware.

I have the 4.16 update and still no sleep score. I have insomnia and use fitbit has one of the  tools to help me gage nightly sleep. Unless this can be fixed I will purchase something different.

I upgraded to Fitbit app 4.16 on my iPhone 14 Mini on iOS 17.4.1 and the benchmark typical ranges now get drawn.

Wish they'd return to the old Sleep stages UI as I find the new chart is hard to read and the colors are ugly. Just saying.

Unbelievable!  I’ve spent all morning trying to get sleep benchmark.  I’m getting another watch.  Tired of Fitbit.

This new layout is horrible compared to the detailed graph they used to have.  How long have you been a member? Just wondering if you saw the of one to compare the difference. I really really hope they go back to the old layout information graph.

PS. I have 4:19 update. I read they were supposed to make it better with the 4:16 update but I’m a few ahead and it still hasn’t changed back. It still sucks!

I’ve been a member for over 6 years.  Have gone through many watches.  They seem to die a month after warranty ends.  Customer service sucks every time I call with an issue.

That link is no help.  I don’t have the benchmark.  I need to know about REM and deep sleep!  If this is unavailable I’m switching to an Apple Watch.  More expensive but less bull crap

I have version 4.18 and it still sucks, the older version was so much easier to view and read you sleep stagers and times.

I'm on version 4.19. updated on 06/10/2024. I've been a Fitbit user for well over 10 years. I depended on the sleep graph. The current graph is unusable, displeasing to look at and gives me little accurate information. The bar graph format was far superior than this. Google doesn't care.

The continuous downgrade of this tool has been frustrating and is leading me to another device. I'm so disappointed in the lack of response by Google since they bought Fitbit and have destroyed it one step at a time.

I’m not sure I understand it either and I HATE this new look on the app.  It was fine before and why does a company think they constantly need to change things?  The new look is awful and very hard to decipher.  The muted look of the app is awful and obviously someone on the payroll has no idea what users need.  IF IT AIN’T BROKE, DON’T FIX IT!!!!  It wasn’t broke - leave it be.  I guess someone needed a new assignment that day and they let their 1st grader redesign the program.  🫤

They obviously want us to pay for premium service yet we bought the service when we purchased the device.  Now they want more out of us.  Typical of companies price gouging their customers. This is pretty much like Prime Video making you pay extra to have no commercials on movies.  Just no!!!

Hi everyone, and a warm welcome to our new members.

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts, as well as your efforts while working on this. As I mentioned before, this issue has been resolved, meaning that the sleep timeline benchmark should show up on the Fitbit app. Just keep in mind that this graph detail will only appear if sleep stages were recorded.

To keep threads on topic or tailed to a specific topic, I'm going to close this thread. I appreciate your feedback regarding the new sleep detail screen. I understand how you're feeling about this change, but please know that our team is constantly working to improve and make Fitbit more useful for you.
