A northern Californian situated an hour from the wine country--and one who fully takes advantage of this geographical fact--I love wine. I typically drink 1 or 2 glasses per evening with dinner, which is often withink 2 hours of bedtime
I have noticed time and again that on the occasonal nights I don't enjoy my vino, I sleep much better with less waking up throughout the night. While it is scientifically established that alcohol does disrupt sleep patterns, I was once again pleasantly reminded of this fact last night--when I didn't enjoy a glass or two with dinner. Just food--er--drink for thought!

I have noticed the same sleep issues with beer consumption.

I agree. Beer and other alcoholic bevs. seem to have the same affect. Guess I have to have my wine by 5 p.m!

Alcohol might make you feel like you sleep better, but it doesn't make your sleep more regenerating than without alcohol.

That is because the alcohol breaks down into sugar in your body disrupting your sleep. I see the same patterns.
