It would good to have a option to follow road or trail route before setting out on a run. That would make GPS more accurate.

Agreed; errr, unless the trail is either unmarked on the charts or, as is the case in my area, horribly incorrect in its location/track.

That is why I said have the option to select before setting off. Most of my
runs are on well marked roads or trails which should be more accurate than
they are. Sometimes the same route differs by 0 .4k on a 5k run.
