My surge won't stay charged for more than half a day. How do I make it last longer?

Assuming it is charging properly, that suggests you have a faulty Surge. The only other explanation would be that you have GPS on all the time.

I think GPS will only be on if you set one of the exercise modes that uses it (free run, hike etc). Otherwise it will be turned off.
So I suspect you have a faulty device. Contact customer services.
