I used a foot pod with my garmin forerunner on the treadmill. It reports on average (at least with today's run) that I take 168 steps per minute. Does anyone know if it is possible to convert this to the stride length into the fit bit format?

Lets say you ran 1.1 miles in 10:15 minutes. I believe this is the math to derive your average stride length for today's run:
1. Convert time to decimal
10:15 = 10 + 15/60 = 10.25 minutes
2. Calculate total steps for the run
168 steps/minute * 10.25 minutes = 1722 steps
3. Convert running distance to feet
1.1 miles = 1.1 miles * 5280 feet/mile = 5808 feet
4. Calculate stride length in feet
5808 feet / 1722 steps = 3.373 feet
5. Input stride into Fitbit
3 feet
4 inches = (3.373 - 3) * 12

@bbarreraThank you for your help on this! I ran on the treadmill yesteday with both my Garmin forerunner and the Surge, and they were practically equal. Only off by .03 mi. Pretty great if you ask me!

When running on the treadmill doesn't it give you the miles ran, and fitbit will give the steps.
Plug the two into the web page linked in last post

From what i read the foot pod still needs the stride to be calibrated.
The treadmill has a belt, and it's computer should have no problem telling you how much track has moved under the feet.
