I'd like to know what model of phone you're using. Make sure its name is on the official list of compatible devices. You can try these steps to connect your text notification to see if this works, remember that both, Fitbit app and phone should be updated to the latest firmware version. Finally, check the settings of your contacts and make sure they are synced to your mail accounts and enable Permission and Locations services in your phone too.
