I did a google search for calorie estimates for walk/runs. My surge seems to be pretty close recording these activities, but I think it's off the mark (counts too high) when it comes to calorie burn during lighly active or close to no activity periods. There are days when the fitbit shows a burn over 5k calories with a 2 hour walk and a fairly active day. I think that an average day should be about 2500 calories for me, and then I add an additonal 1k +/- for an extended walk. Emujo

A warm welcome to the Fitbit Community @Georgejames359! Thanks a lot for your comment @Emujo, let me add a couple of more information about this. Something excellent about using a Fitbit is that you get a better calculation of calories, since your Fitbit will take in count your BMR (basal metabolic rate) too. Please take a moment to read more about in this master post about calories. ![]()
