Calories In vs Out bar graph is innaccurate?

I'm looking at the bar graph for my calories in vs. calories out, and the bars themselves look innaccurate. For example, on Wednesday I logged a total of 1430 calories in (the bar looks a little low, like it's right at the 1333 line), and the device recorded a total of 2007 calories out, but the gray bar is well below the 2000 line (looks like about 1800). Same with Monday, where the device recorded a burn of 2117, but the bar on the chart seems to be just under the 2000 line.

All the bars seem consistently low on the chart, but it is especially noticeable on the days where the device records a calorie burn of 2000 or more. I guess since both the In and Out bars are low, they are accurate when compared only to eachother, but they dont match up with the numbers. Is there some kind of adjustment factor I'm overlooking that would explain this?

I don't understand that bar graph either. It seems the more I walk the higher the gray bar extends. The bar which shows the calories in is either yellow or red, red if I'm taking in more calories than I expend and yellow if I'm taking in a lessor amount of calories. I'm on a 750 calorie deficit and the graph turns green only at a certain level of calories taken in verses the amount expended. Once it's green a small amount of food will send it into the red. I'm confused if I should aim strictly for a green bar graph or if the yellow graph is still within my calorie deficit. I'm just confused about this thing. Drives me nuts.

Ponystar,

The gray bar should reflect how many calories you have burned that day, which is calculated by your heartrate throughout the day, height, and weight. I'm not sure what the formula is, but that is the info they use to estimate it. So it makes sense that the gray bar would go up as you walk more and more! 🙂

As for the bar colors, I agree it is a bit confusing. The bar turns green if you are in your allotted calorie "zone" which I think is +/-50 calories of your set goal. Personally I feel that the bar should be green for under, and then yellow for that zone, as it would be a good indicator that you are near your limit and need to stop. Red for over your goal makes sense to me.

As far as I understand, when you set a goal for your daily calories, this number reflects only the number of calories you want to eat, instead of reflecting the deficit you want. I don't think there is currently a feature that lets you choose a calorie deficit, then adjusts the number of calories you can take in automatically based on the number of calories out, but I really wish there was!! That would be so convenient. I think the current feature that is similar allows you to set a goal weight, and it will adjust your calorie allotment based on your activity.

I agree, when I'm almost about to go over my calories it turns green.  It seems as if it's set to 'gain weight' option when it's not. I have mine set to 'loose weight'.
