I just purchased the Fitbit Surge. I'm not sure I made the right decision, but we'll see. My concern now is battery life. Website says the battery charge should last 7 days unless using GPS. Is there a way for me to disable the GPS feature?

Hi @Kiki68 - Not to worry. GPS is only activated when you start an activity that utilizes GPS, such as running, biking, etc. Otherwise, it is turned off and not using power.

I'm curious, why did you buy the discontinued Surge when the new Ionic is not much more expensive but a far-FAR better device?

I subscribe to Consumer Reports magazine. They reviewed fitness trackers, and the Fitbit surge was their top rated. Based on that review, plus the fact that I purchased it on Amazon on sale for $185, I bought it. I didn't know it was discontinued. The Ionic was not included in the magazines' review. I didn't even know there was an Ionic! But price is important to me. So far I am happy. Thank you all for the responses and support.

For the price you paid, I think the surge is the much better choice for a fitness tracker. In several ways it's better than the Ionic..... the Ionic's a bit of a scrambled mess right now.

I'm not sure how you come to the conclusion the Surge is better than the Ionic, literally every thing the Surge can do, the Ionic can do better, that and every sign indicates the Ionic will actually survive on your wrist for more than a few months. The odds the Surge are DOA within six months are pretty high.

Thanks for sharing your comments @shipo, @Crazy-Fritter and @Kiki68!
I think that both trackers have really good features. But I understand your point @shipo since Ionic is a motivating timepiece packed with fitness guidance, health insights, music storage, apps, and more. You can learn more about Ionic at https://www.fitbit.com/ionic or compare both of products at https://www.fitbit.com/compare
Please note that we’ll continue to support Surge from a software standpoint, along with any questions you might have during your use of the product, for more information about Fitbit Surge you can go here.
Have a good one guys!
