Give this a try:
From phone dashboard, click account icon near top right (looks like drivers license), scroll way down to 'Advanced Settings' and tap that, then Units, then Length.

Thank you Sir! That was easy...I appreciate your help. I am also unable to get the time and date correct yet I have followed the instructions that were available online...would you be able to help me with that as well? Thanks for your help.

Time and date are taken from your phone or other sync device each time it syncs. Other than time zone issues if off by exact number of hours, that is the only way to set the time.
So if you can get your device to sync, time and date should get set right.

Welcome to the Forums @Stayfit2day, it's great to have new users around! Amazing help @JohnnyRow, thanks a million.
Thanks for trying the suggested steps! Your Fitbit App should be changing automatically with your phone if the App has the "Automatic Time Zone" on in the "Advance Settings" in the option Time Zone. I would like to know why don't you use the "Automatic" in both phone and Fitbit App.
1. On the Setting on your phone
4. Tap "General."
5. Tap "Date & Time."
6. Ensure that "Set Automatically" is ON.
7. Reopen the Fitbit app. The issue should now be resolved.
Hope this works!
