Counting steps while driving

Hi all, hoping I can get some help here? I'm on my first day using fitbit surge.

I'm a truck driver and drive for 11 hours 6 days a week, so far in my first 3 hours today I've logged all sorts of crazy data, 3000 steps, lots of stairs climbed, massive calorie Burn. All whilst Sat on my bum doing nothing! Is there a fix for this, makes the device completely useless if it's going to give such inaccurate data, I'd be the fittest trucker alive if this was for real! Haha .... I need the fitbit to tell the truth or its pointless.

Is there a way to put into driving mode or to stop it from counting this stuff... I do get in and out of the truck all day and would like an easy way to switch between the two so that my active bits still get logged.

OK so a bit of digging has lead me to the 3rd party app "travel bit" I've put into it the hours I'll be driving today and that has removed all the wrong data, apart from calories which is still saying I've burned 1000 already only 3 hours into the day? Will this correct after the activity ends or do I need to do something different? Thanks anyone who can help.

Nice to see you here @Andyguy321! Thanks for sharing your tips for this extra steps. Driving and other activities can sometimes cause your tracker to register extra steps. Regardless of activity, you can negate steps and floors by logging a driving activity on your activity log. To do so:

1. Sign into your Dashboard and click the 'Log Activity' icon from the menu at the top of the screen.
2. Select the date or dates in question.
3. In the activity menu, type in "Driving" and enter the time and duration of time that you were driving.
4. Click "Log Activity." You will see the steps, calories burned, and other data decrease for the time period specified.

Or, you can use DriveBit. DriveBit allows you to automatically or manually  log driving activities to fitbit to get more accurate daily results when their drives are bumpy enough to register steps.

I hope this helps, keep me posted! 😉

I would like to use the drivebit app but it says it is not available for the surge. Any other ideas?
