Track swimming activity

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.
I don't mind that it's unable to convert to steps, but I do want to track swimming time as at least activity. I tried to enter it, but the only unit of measure is a mile.
There are days that I take a student swimming, and I am treading water in the deep end for 45 minutes straight. I have no clue how to convert that to miles.
Could there be additional options added to the swimming track such as minutes, deep water running, or other?
Thanks!

Thank you for your suggestion. We're constantly striving to improve Fitbit products and services, and we very much appreciate all of the input we receive from our customers. The best place to make your voice heard is the Ideas board on our community, which our product development teams consult regularly to ensure we're delivering on what our customers need and want.

I've found the suggestion "Swimming Exercise Tracker Distance in yds and meters" that another member has created. If you think this is similar o the same than your idea, you can vote for their idea and add your comments. Our product team looks forward to reading and incorporating your suggestions into future versions of Fitbit trackers and apps.

Happy stepping!

Most of us can't. That's why we buy trackers made by other people.

Garmin make trackers which you can swim in with HR and GPS, but (and its a big but) the HR turns off whilst swimming., and only on the high end Fenix 3 does it log GPS for open water obviously not the pool, but again no HR. Even if you use a chest strap the signal (either ANT or BT) will not reach the tracker through water. I use a TickrX in offline mode, it records my activity and heart rate and I can get to the data when I sync after a swim. Will invest in a Fenix 3 HR shortly as my first triathlon is this September. I am figuring I can mash the GPS data with the HR from the tickrX.

All trackers currently have limitations, especially for swimming. If you are a real dolphin there are watches that are especially made for swimming, but do little else.

Hello, @dogenzenji! It is nice to see you around. Thank you so much for all your contribution and information that you share with us. It is very interesting, and you are right swimming trackers are a new thing that is evolving with time, so currently there are limitations with them but I'm sure we will get better at it.

I use a Flex 2 and has been working great in the pool with me, plus I have lots of fun, I am half mermaid. Heart

Have a nice wekeend! :}
