How you doing my friend @SunsetRunner? Welcome!
I'm glad to know that you and your wife are exercising together, good way to encourage one another! In regards to your inquiry, it's normal not getting the same amount of distance when you're working out. But if it is half a mile and you're actually doing the same route, the difference shouldn't be that much. In this case I'd recommend restart both trackers a couple of times and then try it again! This should help your little buddies to gather distance in a better way.
Always keep in mind these tips when you're using GPS on your Surge. Good luck and keep moving forward!
I'll be around!
