This question may have been answered already but I could not find anything definitive. I'd like to disable the GPS tracking feature during activities where I don't need it. I tend to do long bike rides of 3-4 hours. I noticed that the battery after one of my long rides is nearly dead.
Actually it shows zero bars so I'm not sure how it still works! I'm about to do a 6 hour ride and Id like the tracker to function the entire time to track my heart rate but not my geographical location.
I'm sure its the GPS feature that is draining the battery. So, is there a way to disable the gps feature during a mode where it automatically tracks (Run, Bike, Hike)..

Look under the settings for bike ride, then turn of gps.
Before tapping start there should be a setting cog or swipe up.

I do appreciate your reply but a settings option does not exist when I navigate to the bike screen.
My steps are - Main button (on the side)
- Go the exercise screen
- Press the lower right button
- Swipe until I find "Bike"
The only thing that is on the screen is the word Bike, a satellite, and a heartbeat symbol and check mark.
Pressing the check mark brings up the "Searching" option for the satellite.
Once it locates the satellite the "Start" button appears.
Maybe I need a firmware update?

It has been years since I had a Surge. So I went to help.fitbit.com. it looks like the Surge does not have the option to disable GPS.
