Having charging/ battery life problems with my Surge for a few months I contacted Fitbit after considerable communications with their customer services I have been told that apart from offering a 25% discount on another product there is nothing further they can do I asked if it could be returned to their warreny /Repair department as its 30 months old I was told that they don't have a repair facility at Fitbit, it seams their only interested in selling than keeping customers happy if I had been told it only had a life span of 24-30 months I would have purchased another or cheaper brand.
this is a big question everyone should be asking as this is not the cheapest fitness tracker on the market,

First Surge lasted just over 1 year, same offer of 25% discount. Bought another Surge, this one again lasted just over year. Considering alternatives.
