I suppose one advantage with having a Surge is that there is no temptation to spend an outrageous amount of extra money on a "Special Edition" or a different type of band. Have you seen how much they want for the Alta Gold bracelet? £130 !!! Thats without the Alta!! Staggering.
I guess I'm fortunate in that all I have had to spend is the price of a tube of Superglue to hold mine together.

Depending on how the band broke (out of normal usage) and under warranty, the band can fall under warranty.. (it's up to fitbit to decide).

Yes, the wristbands of the Fitbit Surge are not interchangeable. However if it gets damage, I find it a little more complicated because then it is necessary to get a whole new Surge.
In regards of the Alta, yeah, besides the price, it is very very cool.
