Fitbit surge wrong data

Hello to the community agian

i am having an issue where I cannot make my Fitbit to register the distance that I ran correctly neither the floors climped. Which I'm guessing, results to wrong data (calories, overall distance).

The the tracker is worn on the non dominant hand two fingers higher from my wrist. (Like the instructions suggest)

Strides are fixed. (Running+ walkig)

So is my weight and height.

Am i I missing some settings?

It's great to have again here @SunsetRunner! Hope you're doing great! Thanks for including all those details, apparently you have checked everything on the Settings. I would like to know if the inaccuracy regarding your data, is specifically for some workouts or if you're seeing inaccuracy on you stats for the day. Are you manually logging information? What are the activities that you do most of the days? Are you comparing distance with other device? Smiley Wink

About the distance discrepancy, also check your workouts automatically tracked by SmartTrack, since those exercises don't track distance for your overall stats for the day. It will give you steps, duration and calories only. So, it might be that this is why you don't see all the distance information in your Dashboard. Remember that using the ShortCuts from your Surge, from the Multi-Sport option will give you all the stats including distance and a map information, for GPS activities. I think that it might be a better option to use in case that you haven't noticed so.

I would also suggest to take a look of this master post in regards floors, so you can check some amazing facts on how this stat is tracked. Robot wink

I'll be around in case you have more questions. Woman Very Happy

Hello again @YojanaFitbit . First off, I must apologize since I clicked the "accept as a solution" button by mistake.

Yes, I am cross checking my data with other devices that I'm using such my treadmill or eleptic machine. Usually ill rod about 2.5km but the Fitbit will only track 0.500-0600km which is annoying and can obliquely result to wrong data.

I could also mention yoga, which I am having a few sessions per week but I don't have any other data for other sources to compare with my trackers data.

Whenever I am hoping on the treadmill or in at other machine I try to use the shortcuts as you mentioned in order totally my activity better. But as I said, that's not the case

Also regarding HR monitoring which is the reason I switched to a Fitbit in the first place, the data I'm receiving  are inaccurate which can be DANGEROUS. (The caps are to note the significance of this "error" ). The HR tracked can differ alot. In most cases, I am getting a -20 HR or worse no HR at all.

At the moment, I am not carrying a phone with me, so I am unable to use the new feature called "Smart Track" (which I am not even sure where to find on my surge device).

Hello again,

Any other suggestion regarding settings or even resets that would help with my device are greatfully appriciated. I bought my surge in order to "upgrade" from my past device (not a fitbit). So far, I am not that impressed from what I am getting from my money like some other people around the forum .

I am waiting to get some response, if possible.

Can I have some feedback regarding my

Hey @SunsetRunner! Thanks for getting back! Don't worry it's okay, I was happy when I saw the notification about the accepted solution, though! But it's okay. I really want to help you to take advantage of the different features and functionality of your Surge. So, let's check your questions one by one! Cat Tongue

  1. In regards about the accuracy of distance, I want to know where you're getting this information. Are you checking the information of each activity? or Is this the overall for the day? Also, if you're using GPS for tracking walks or runs.
  2. About Yoga activities, remember that this is not a base activity exercise; so must of the information that you get is taken by the HR monitor to give you calories burned. Also, let's take into consideration that if you compare trackers, they not always will give the same information since every tracker has their own algorithms. Please check this master post to get more information about how to track Yoga activities.
  3. What are the Shortcuts that you're using, so we can check the information that you're getting. If you can add pictures of the graphs or of the workouts with all the stats, it would be great!
  4. Your HR monitor, will give you the readings depending on the activity and  how you're wearing it (see some wearing tips); some others factors like temperature, humidity, stress level, physical body position, caffeine intake, and medication use are just a few things that can affect your heart rate. In case that it is having some hardware issues restarting your Surge might help to get a better reading. Please note a Fitbit tracker is not a medical device, you should consult your doctor before starting an exercise routine.
  5. In this post you will find more information about SmartTrack. In case that you don't know all activities recorded by this feature don't take in count distance for the overall stats.

Hope this helps, I'll be waiting for your response! Woman Very Happy
