So ive had my surge since 2015 working perfectly fine up till a week ago. i was charging it and when it was fully charged disconnected it from the cable and was shocked to see that the screen started fading till it was blank. i tried pressing all the buttons and resetting and all that stuff with no luck. tried re connecting it to the charger turns on and indicating that its fully charged so i tried removing the cable again it powers down.
i went to the chat service on the website and was asked to sync it while it was in the charger so that they know whats wrong with it. they told me yes we can see that your fitbit is not behaving normally and there is something wrong with it but we cannot do anything because its not in warranty. i had already figured that on my own before contacting them and that ofcourse it would be out of warranty since i bought it in 2015. so my reply was yeah i know that ofcourse however i do want to repair it and pay for it and the reply was no we do not do that. i sent them an email later complaining that this was not acceptable and that i wanted to pay for repairs and repair the **ahem** thing, got an email a couple of hours later saying" we at fitbit make our products to last and we are sorry that this happened to you but unfortunately your fitbit is out of warranty".
so basically i bought a 200$+ piece of disposable crap

Hi, @MeezoG, unfortunately p, it is basically uneconomic to repair Fitbit devices -- this is pretty much true for many small electronic devices (but do be sure to recycle it, as that is still important).
Usually in these cases loyal Fitbit customers are offered a discount on a new device, so if you weren't offered one, I would recommend calling back and discussing this with them further.
