Heart rate

Is there a way to have the heart rate displayed on the surge clock face so that we dont have to keep swiping across to see it all the time. One of the reasons i bought the surge was to be able to see my heart rate at a glance. Is this possible to add in a future update.??? The surge is an awesome tracker but has some limitations that could be sorted out very easily. Thanks 🙂

After searching the forum ive just realised that most requests for watch faces fall on deaf ears and the surge hasnt been firmware updated in over a year. Glad i only paid £50 new for my surge as it seems its already redundant. Shame because its still fitbits most expensive tracker.

I'm not sure what you mean by redundant, but there is no other tracker in Fitbit's lineup with in-built GPS; that in and of itself is worth the price of admission.

The tracker its self is a great piece of kit but it seems that fitbit isnt supporting some of the simple requests from their surge customers. Ive not long had my surge and dont get me wrong i really like it but lack of support for a tracker that they still sell for £199 new is crazy, its their top model isnt it??

It's hard to say they aren't supporting the Surge; just because requests aren't being acted on does not mean there isn't support.  Think about it this way, if many of the requests were acted on, the Surge would probably require more memory; something which is hard to do retroactively.

I rather suspect Fitbit is queuing up a number of the requests for the Surge replacement (Surge 2?) which speculation says will be release sometime in 2017.

I think your right about fitbit saving the ideas for the surge 2nd gen but how hard would it be to allow users to at least add heart rate to the watchface on a fitness tracker with heart rate tracking. The charge 2 has it and so does the blaze. its not rocket science.

Just speculating here, but the Surge does a 5-minute average for the heart rate when not in one of the tracked exercise modes.  When I'm running I can select the heart rate and it will stay on the screen for the the duration of the run.

Some other bloke came up with this trick...

Go into workout mode as an activity but do not start the activity, the heart rate will display bottom of the watch. Not ideal but there you have it.

Original firmware of the Surge allowed you to swipe between main views and it would stay there but every review I have seen criticised this as your shirt sleeve would swipe the screen and you would not see the clock face.

So they changed it.

Nice option would be to have a checkbox in the app that allows you to toggle between the current way and sticking on a screen you select.
I think a new Surge may be on the way though. Hopefully waterpoof.

Ive been reading a little more on the subject and had seen that it was
changed because of the shirt sleeve thing which i totally understand. This
is why i think that if they gave you the option to have heart rate
displayed on the main watch face this would be great, there is enough space
on the watch face to do so. However if they do bring out the surge 2 lets
hope that it will be an option and defo water proof. 🙂

Tried what you said about the not starting a workout but still display the hr and it does at least work as a substitute. Thanks.
