When using my Surge on a stationary bike/cycle it has trouble displaying my heart rate. Half of the time it does not match what the equipment reads by great margins. For example, I spent 12 minutes on a cycle just now and my heart rate averaged 165. My Surge did not detect well (but did fine during a jog 20 minutes ago so it isn't a contact issue). Furthermore I cannot find or enter the cycle on my activities (would love a shortcut for the band) so I must enter the information under "Bike." This calculates me in fat burn zone, meaning low 100-120s. This is a huge difference in calories and effort! How can I make it record more accurately?

Now at midnight my total burned calories for today is 2800 when it should be closer to 2300 (BMR 1800 plus around 500 in logged exercise).

A warm welcome to our Fitbit Community family @Nomikia! Thanks for all the details that you included in your post. It's odd, that your Surge gives a good calculation on your HR while jogging, but not when you workout in your stationary bike. Please check that your band is in a correct way in your wrist when doing the activity and take a look of this wearing tips.
Remember that your HR wil increase depending on the intensity of the workout too. As you ride the bike, your heart rate should be within your target zone, which is 50 to 85 percent of your maximum heart rate. Your maximum heart rate is 220 minus your age. For example, a person who is 35 years old has a maximum heart rate of 185 beats per minute and a target heart rate of 93 to 157 beats per minute.
I would recommend restarting your Surge, in case that this is a hardware issue. Using the option "Bike" in your Surge is the best option, but if you prefer to use the option "Workout" and name the activity to"Stationary Bike" after syncing; you can do so too. You will find the option in your Dashboard on the tile "Track exercise" > Choose the activitiy > Tap on upper right corner to edit.
About your calories burned during night, your account does the calculation using your BMR information but your Surge takes your HR data to give a better estimation. You can check this information with more details, if your open the Fitbit.com Dashboard in the computer or in your phone browser. Once you're logged in into your Account, click on Log > Activity > Choose Calories view > choose date.
You will get the timeline for the day, taking the 24 hours of the day.
Hope this helps, I'll be around!
