How do I set my surge for run/walk tracking?

I'm not quite to the point of a continuous 3 mile run so I run for 45'ish seconds and walk for 15'ish for 40 min in a tight circle trying to build up to a constant run but I'm not sure how to track this type of exercise.
For now I just set it to exercise but I get the feeling that my calories burnt are not correct tracking it this way.

Welcome to the Community @Email4kimo. As you know, activities like "walk", "run", "hike", etc. AT the moment of running, you just need to tap the option "Run" (which is the one with the shoe icon). At the moment of finishing the exercise sync your tracker and it will automatically show you the information during that period of time.
