I'm used to the Fitbit charge 2 and when doing workouts I can tap and pull the one I want up. How does the surge work??????

You would press the left button on the Surge; if you're going for a run, scroll to the "Run" app and then press the lower right button; if you're doing a different form of exercise, scroll to the "Exercise" app, press the lower right button, and then scroll through the different exercises (Bike, Hike, Weights, Elliptical, Spinning, Workout), and then press the lower right button again.
