I'm used to the Fitbit charge 2 and when doing workouts I can tap and pull the one I want up. How does the surge work??????

Hello my friend, @Tough50! I have moved your post since you are not referring to a setup issue. This way we keep it more organized. To learn how to use your exercise mode on your Surge, please take a look to this article.
This should clarify all your inquiries about exercise mode and multisport, let me know if it doesn't. 😉

You would press the left button on the Surge; if you're going for a run, scroll to the "Run" app and then press the lower right button; if you're doing a different form of exercise, scroll to the "Exercise" app, press the lower right button, and then scroll through the different exercises (Bike, Hike, Weights, Elliptical, Spinning, Workout), and then press the lower right button again.
