How to understand calories In Vs. Out using MFP and Fitbit Surge

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have the surge fitbit, and i use the app on my phone along with my fitness pall - I just dont understand where i should be looking for the calories, as everywhere i look seems to have a different number.

My fitness pal says i should eat 1370 kcal per day

My fitbit is telling me i've burned 777 calories

The app is telling me I am over budget - 476 cals in 777 cals out

Every other day i have been well "under budget" according to the fitbit app

Im so confused.

*Im at 13k steps a day & i do an excersise class most days so i know it will go up when i do that but i just have no idea what i should be following really.  I am trying to loose weight so its important to me I am eating the correct amount.

Thanks for popping by the forums @Kims28! I'd be my pleasure to give you a hand with this! Using MyFitnessPal is of great help! If you're using your Fitbit Surge to track all your activities and workouts, and logging in all your food intake in MFP App, with no exception. Then, the information that you should be checking to manage your calories is your Under/Over indicator in the Fitbit App. The Fitbit App should be feed by MFP if they are currenty syncing with no problem. Also your Surge should be syncing all your activities, so you can have most accurate information about your calories.  Robot wink

If you notice that MFP or the Fitbit App are not syncing or transferring all the data each other, we might have to do some troubleshooting steps to make them connect. Remember you don't enter any food log from the Fitbit App, but you will be able to see all the food entries from my MFP in the Fitbit App. Smiley Surprised

The tile called "Uder/Above" is the summary of your calories eaten vs. calories burned from your Surge. So for better practices use my MFP to log food and the Fitbit App to have all the workouts, you can check what is the data that they transfer in this master post.

The tile called "Left to Eat" that you have in your Fitbit App will show you the total amount of calories that you have the option to keep consuming during the day, always depending on your Food Plan. You can find an amazing explanation on how the Food Plan works in this post.

Hope this helps. I'll be around in case you need more help and keep up with those 13ksWoman Very Happy
