How to update my Surge

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have a red light on my Surge, a google search says it needs an update, and to go into Fitbit Connect to update it. I don't have Fitbit Connect. I am connected through apps on my phone and on my computer. I don't have a wireless dongle, as my niece gave me her old fitbit and didn't give me the dongle.

Thank you in advance!

@barbragucci Check the firmware version of the Surge. Push the left button once and swipe the screen horizontally until you get to "Settings". Push the lower right button and swipe the screen vertically until "Version" is highlighted. The latest version is 16.345.14. If you have Windows 10 you may be able to update thru the charging cable but you will need FitBIt connect. You can download it free from FitBit.com. If you don't have Windows 10 and your Niece doesn't have the dongle you can get one from Amazon or FitBit. What you can also try is draining the battery to zero (about 24 hours after the red LED goes out and the display goes blank). Recharge and restart. If all else fails contact Customer Support for further assistance. Good luck.

It says that I have version 36.345.14, so what does that mean? That I
don't need an update? If so, what is the red light for?

@barbragucci You have the latest version. The LED may indicate a fault within the Surge. Try draining the battery to zero (24 hrs after the LED and screen go blank) then recharge and restart. If the LED returns then give Customer Support a call for assistance.
