Interval running?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I'm running intervals and is currently pausing the run when I decide to walk, so I can see just my run distance and time. My question would be during the walk intervals, do I need to add the walking as an additional activity on my dashboard? I don't want it to double count steps/calories.

Are you manually triggering a "Free Run" or are you relying on your Surge to auto-trigger a run?  I ask because all of my runs are in "Free Run" mode which are GPS tracked, and even when I need to walk, say crossing a busy road or through a tunnel or something, all of my steps are counted regardless of whether they were run steps or walk steps.

I manually select "Free Run"

Hmmm, are you sure your walking steps aren't included in the run?

On an issue related to interval training, with previous HRM I was able to sprint hard achieve a target high HR, then rest to achieve a target low HR before  sprinting again. With the FB Surge it seems to give a decent average to track long stable exercise but I cannot figure out how to get useful instantaneous actuals like I did before. Any thoughts?

Hello @k3lynnla and @viejo, It been a while since both of you posted your concerns here. I wonder how it goes?

The best recommendation here is as @shipo mentioned before. Which is a great suggestion by the way. Usually I tend to use the "Free Run"  exercise of the Surge to do my running exercise. However I'm a former smoker and I don't have to much stamina as I run out of air very quickly so I cant stand a long run. Most of my routine I alternate between short runs and short periods of walking. My numbers are very solid and includes my running and my walking distance as my steps and heart rate peaks overall. Here is an example of this for a run interval and walk exercise for 7.82 km or 4.86 miles, 1:52:23 min, 14'22" pace.

Keep me posted if you need more help, I'll be around.

Instead of writing to ask if the problem has magically fixed itself, or referring me to the wrist position instructions which have been tried before and found useless, please try to offer some real help. Otherwise you just keep reopening the wound of having tricked me into buying a useless con job device.

Again, the problem is that the device is useless for HR measurement. Best example is when I finish a hard interval it shows a low HR and when I am rested and ready to run again it shows a high HR. Since all reported data is derived from HR and the HR is useless that makes the whole thing useless.

Still awaiting a real answer.

Can you provide some screen shots similar to the ones above?

I'd like to see how your pace and heart rate track.
