It's not waterproof but you may be lucky. I'd have thought it would have gone wrong by now if it were going to.

I believe the official line is the Surge is "Water Resistant". I've worn mine while running in heavy rain with no issues, while on other days, errr, "hot and humid" days, a mist has developed on the inside of the screen.
Just to be on the safe side, were I you, I would bury your Surge in a bowl of rice and wrap the bowl with plastic wrap for at least a half of day.

I think part of the problem is the sensor for floors. It uses an air pressure sensor which requires a small hole in the fitbit.

the hole is not the problem.
as i said many times, diving computers have pressure sensors and holes, but are waterproof.
of course, the supplier has selected waterprof sensors.
the other reason is the heart sensor.
