Not Recording Outdoor Bike

My Surge does not auto recognize outdoor cycling.

it is a shame....I can not bike in the gym as well...I can cycle 15 miles and it says .2 miles.

@refturner have you checked your auto detection settings? Tap the exercise tile then settings and see if bike has been disabled, or maybe the rides have not been long enough in time.

 

Also if pausing for to long of a period in the middle might also cause a lack of detention.

 

@jthediesel when you say gym, are you refferring to an exercise bike?

Your miles durring this are virtual miles, since the bike and you don't physically move. Fitbit has no way of measuring these and at best can only apply your stride setting to any vibrations that may have been recorded as steps. The best you can do is use the multisport mode called spinning, tome and calories will be calculated. 

Sorry, a sensor would have to be placed on the wheel of the bike to be able to measure rotation, then it could be converted to dostance if the wheel diameter is known.

I selected bike and used gps but at the end of a 22.17 mile bike ride my dashboard stats only showed .85 miles. Not sure if you don't get any distance while bike riding?

Same for me although it will still auto-sense a cycle ride but not if I select outdoor bike and use the GPS.

Currently their is a problem with the Charge 2, but i haven't herd of a problem with the Surge that has its own GPS.
