Notifications and stride length

Two questions really. Sorry. How do I get notifications from Viber, Whatsapp and facebook on my surge. Secondly, is it possible to have different stride lengths for treadmill running and actual running? They are clearly going to be very different. The distances my surge is registering is a lot less than the treadmill says. Cheers guys

When you say "actual running", do you mean like outside with "Free Run" (which implies GPS tracking) enabled?

If so, then the stride setting is ignored when you're running outside.  Said another way, you're probably good to go if you set your stride length to match what you do on a treadmill.

Thanks for the reply. Seems reasonable but won't my general calories burned by walking be affected too?

With your Surge you can walk in two different modes:

  • Go for a walk without alerting the Surge; the distance and calories reported will be based upon steps, your walking stride length, and your heart rate.
  • With your Surge, select "Exercise" and then "Hike"; when you start the watch, your walk is GPS tracked; the distance will be what the GPS calculates and will have nothing to do with your preset stride length.
