There is no quick view on the Surge as it is on all the time

Wrong. Quick view means you don’t have to tap the screen for the display light to appear. Quick view is a hands free light display. Turn it off to save battery. Especially while sleeping.

The Fitbit surge does have this feature. Open up the Fitbit app under settings.
