Red LED lit - Surge face right side

Few other threads but no explination as to what this Red LED is for - can anyone (Moderators) lend some insight?

I'm not a moderator but as you may have gathered from other threads on this subject, the LED doesn't have a purpose but when it shows it indicates a possible failure and the recommendation is to contact customer support:

Perhaps it's a bit like those warning indicators that can pop up on a car's dashboard suggesting somethings's gone wrong.
