What does the red light on my surge mean and how do I fix it?

I tried by updating and shutting down multiple times but the red light would not go away.  For those of you who does not know, this red light problem drains the device charge in less than a day.

When I was about to give up and call technical support and/or but a new Fitbit, I tried pressing the 3 buttons simultaneously for 3 to 5 seconds (...as mostly done with devices with problems), and....the red light just disappeared.  The problem was fixed.  Yey!!!

A red light means that an internal error has been detected. Best course of action is to contact customer support via: contact.fitbit.com

I am glad that worked for you. I have tried it upteenth times. I also tried suggestions to disconnect etc. I have the latest firmware update 16.34.6.1. Is it possible to force another update in case something may have gone wrong during the last update?

I've also got a red light on now. I've tried restarting a few times but not helped. Occasionally a green light appears but then it switches to red... Any help would be much appreciated.

I have tried everything I could find.  Restarting multiple time.  Letting it go totally dead and waiting a day then recharging,  Forcing resync, disconnecting from account and reconnecting, and pushing all three buttons just to name a few.  Still have the red light.  What is the most current firmware? If I do not have the most current how do I get it.

Thank you

I also have the red light on and can’t get it to turn off.  Was starting and stopping the timer when it turned on.  Please help.
Thanks.

I was able to get the red light turned off and thought I'd share how.  Long story short, I took off the Surge (while charged and powered on) and placed it out of range of WiFi and bluetooth.  I went back 2 hours later and the red light was off.  I think it had to do with the WiFi and/or bluetooth connections while wearing the Surge in their proximity.  Hope that helps anyone else with this problem.
