Replacement Surge - What to do with old one?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have a FitBit Surge that is just over a month old.  I wore it on a run in the drizzle/rain yesterday and the tracker developed condensation on the inside.  It is still functioning, but appears to be compromised somehow.  I spoke to FitBit customer service about it, and they are sending me a replacement.  I asked the customer advocate what I should do with the old one, and he suggested that I replace it.  My question is this: If the tracker remains functional even though the screen is a bit fogged, I'd like to let my husband use it rather than just recycle it.  Is there any issue/problem with this?  Will it cause any conflicts with my new tracker that is coming? Any input/advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Hello @kevinjanelle,

Welcome to the community!

You may be able to get your older Surge back in working order by putting it in a bag of uncooked rice for a few days.  Rice is a natural dessicant and will absorb moisture.  If you can't get it back in working order, dispose of it properly (it has a rechargable battery).  You can find bins in many stores (Target, Home Depot, Best Buy, etc.) that will take recycled small electronics (like MP3 players).

When you get your new tracker set it up as a replacement tracker and it'll automatically remove the existing one.

I hope this helps.
