I am doing a 1000 miles in a year challenge starting January 1st 2017. My yearly exercise display has not reset for 2017. It still tells me what I have done from January 28th (a start date which changes, it was 27th yesterday) 2016 to the current day. Is there a way of me setting it so that it starts the year on January 1st 2017?

It's great to see you in the Community @SunsetRunner, welcome! All your previous achievements are save and "filed" by your Account, so there is no option to erase them every year but you can see every year information if you go to Fitbit.com to see your Dashboard online, click on Log > Activities > and here you will choose year. You can also start a new a Account using a different email or if you want to use the same email, you can contact Customer Support so they can assist you with that.
You can suggest your ideas in this board Feature Suggestions board, I think that it would be a good idea to have that option on the Fitbit App.
Have a lovely day and good luck with your challenge!
