Setting up a second hand surge

Hello!

I am new to the Fitbit family and have just bought a second hand fitbit Surge from ebay.  The tracker arrived with the usb power cable.

I have been online on my laptop and registed an account.  I have the Fitbit App installed on my windows phone.  I am now trying to add the device.

I've been onto the laptop and it tells me to go onto my mobile App.  The mobile App tells me to go onto the computer!  I've searched for help to 'add a device' and there should be a 'Menu' drop down menu in the left hand corner of the dashboard on my laptop - I can't see it.

This is driving me crazy!  I'd be grateful for some step by step advice and guidance to get my Surge to sync with my phone.

Many Thanks

🙂

Hi @TamasinJ

There are several ways to link the tracker to the account:

From the Fitbit Article (for step by step manual instructions, check out the article)

  1. Mobile device;
  2. Windows PC (Windows 10);
  3. Windows 8.1 and below;
  4. Apple Macintosh

1. Mobile Device

2. Window PC (Windows 10)

Spoiler

If you don’t have a mobile device, you can set up and sync your tracker on your Windows 10 PC using the same Fitbit app available for Windows mobile devices.

To get the app, click the Start button and open the Windows® Store (called Store). Search for “Fitbit app.” Note that if you’ve never downloaded an app from the store to your computer, you’ll be prompted to create an account.

Open the app and follow the instructions to create a Fitbit account and set up your tracker. You can set up and sync wirelessly if your computer has Bluetooth. If your computer doesn't have Bluetooth or the Bluetooth signal is weak or problematic:

  • Plug the wireless sync dongle that came with your tracker into a USB port on your computer. Note that Fitbit Surge requires the wireless sync dongle.

  • If you have a Fitbit Blaze™, put the tracker into the charging cradle and plug the other end into a USB port on your computer.
