Sleep detection

This morning I went for a  30 minute run at 5:30 am, came home and showered and got dressed.  My surge said I slept through all of that activity.  It had synced while running, but my sleep record says I got up at 7:30.  Any ideas on why?

It's nice to see you around the Community @canchaserlvr Robot Very HappyAutodetection is based on your movement. When you haven’t moved in over an hour, algorithms assume that sleep has begun, which is confirmed by the length of time your movements are indicative of sleep behavior only (rolling over, etc). Morning movement tells your tracker that you’re awake. If you’re not moving but not asleep for long periods of time it’s possible for your tracker to falsely record sleep, in which case you can delete the sleep record from your dashboard.

Although trackers that autodetect sleep are designed to know when the tracker is off your wrist, occasionally they may record a sleep log when you aren't actually asleep. You can delete this sleep log on your dashboard by doing the following:

  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the sleep tile. This is the tile that says "How did you sleep?" or, if you tracked sleep the night before, shows how many hours and minutes you slept.
  2. Tap the sleep log that you want to edit.
  3. Tap the pencil icon in the top right corner and adjust the time you went to sleep or the time you woke up. Don't forget to save.

Have a nice day my friend!
