I got the Surge back in April. The first one lasted about 4 months before the wrist strap started bubbling and detaching from the tracker. I called Fitbit and they sent out a replacement. That was in August. In February the replacement Surge started to do the exact same thing. I again called costumer support and asked her why the band so easily deteriorates. She told me it could be the environment in which I live ( Florida) or the amount that I wear the Surge ( everyday, isn't that what it is for? ). For the record, before I ever bought the Surge I contacted Fitbit to make sure it could handle Florida's hot humid environment. I specifically asked about the weather since I work outdoors and I like to run, walk, hike and during the Summer it rains almost every afternoon. I was assured by the representative then that the Surge could handle all that and just not to submerge it as in swimming or washing the dishes. Needless to say, I am extremely angry over this. I expected something that costs this must to last at least a few years.

Hi, @Jmegen, as you may know, Fitbit has moved to trackers with replacement bands so your issue could not be repeated with newer devices. This is presumably because, as you have noted, different users in different environments have had varying experiences with the bands, and they do sometimes need to be replaced.
As your Fitbit is still under warranty, I would suggest getting back in touch with them as soon as possible on contact.fitbit.com to discuss your options.
It sounds like a Fitbit with a replaceable band might be the best option for you. I did really love my Surge, but I do find that my new Ionic has all the features of the Surge plus also a lot more, and is really much more comfortable, so that might be the way to go for you.
