Surg was a bad joke

Imagine my excitement when I got my first Surg. Worked great, loved it. Then the glass cracked, without outside help. I contacted Fitbit, was within warranty and soon had a replacement Surg. Well done Fitbit. But alas, a minor complication. One day I hooked the clasp on something and the pin went flying and not to be found. When I contacted Fitbit for a replacement clasp for the surg, imagine, my surprise when I was told that they do not make replacement clasps for the Surg! What they offered was a 25% discount for a NEW device. So my choice was to either spend mucho dollars for a new device for the want of a $1.50 part or search online for a third party replacement.  Found the replacement part for around $1.50 and worked perfectly. Within a year my Surg, the second one, started having issues holding a charge in the battery. Once again contacted Fitbit about a replacement battery, same story, no replacement parts, 25% discount on new device. Checking online did not reveal anyone that replaces the battery of a Surg. Decided to leave the Surg, because of rumors of it being discontinued and went with the Blaze.

You can read about my adventures with the Blaze in that forum.

Bottom line, I have ask Santa for a Samsung tracker
It sad that Fitbit chose to discontinue the Surg. I really did like that tracker

Wendy,

It was not that I was unhappy with my Surg, in fact I loved it, but my
dissatisfaction is with Fitbits lack of support for repairing the surg.
No replacements for broken claps nor replacing bad batteries. Their pat
answer, once you are out of warranty, is to offer a 25% discount on a
new device, that has nothing wrong with it than a broken claps. Not good
business
