Haven't used my surge for a while and charged it up - it showed full battery, wore and the battery was dead in about 2 minutes. I have shut it down ad started again, reinstalled the App on my phone for syncing ? all suggestions welcome - or do I need a new battery ?

I'm sorry but Lithium Ion batteries can be permanently damaged if not charged for a length of time.
Nothing you can do at this point. The batteries are not replaceable
